Introduction

In 1866 young Al-Nanawtawi founded Darul Uloom Deoband, the powerhouse of Deobandi ideology and Deobandi thought of the Sunni Islamic School. At present Al-Nanawtawi’s Darul Uloom Deoband is believed to be the most powerful school of Islamic thought in the entire Muslim world. At DIIT scholars explore the anthropologic, cognitive and psychodynamic impacts of ‘Ulum al-Qasmi’ and the thoughts of the later generations of the Ulema.

Previously published (2014-2018) as Islamic Literature Review, Deoband Journal of Islamic Thought is a double-blind peer-reviewed and interdisciplinary bilingual (Arabic/English) biannual journal.
